Armed robbery injures 7-Eleven clerk
Police still looking for suspect who may have an accomplice
A fugitive is considered "armed and dangerous" after the 7-Eleven store at 82nd Avenue and Otty Road in Clackamas was robbed at gunpoint in a violent attack on the store's employee on Saturday morning at about 3:50 a.m.
At about 3:57 a.m. on July 28, 911 was notified of an armed robbery, and deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office arrived less than a minute later. The suspect had fled the scene and was not located.
Deputies reported the clerk, a 42-year-old man from Portland, had serious facial injuries and requested a medical response. His name is being withheld at this time to allow him to notify family members of the incident. He was transported to OHSU and is currently being evaluated.
A Gladstone Police Department canine officer and handler assisted by doing a search for the suspect, but were not successful. Officers from the Milwaukie Police Department also assisted.
Deputies reported that even though the clerk had just been robbed at gunpoint, beat with a handgun and was bleeding heavily from his face, he started to mop the blood off the floor and tried to help customers.
The suspect stole cash, menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars during the robbery.
The suspect was described as an adult male in his early-to-mid 20s, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, slender build, wearing a black hoodie jacket, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He was armed with an unknown type of pistol with which he apparently beat the victim. Statements and video surveillance show the beating was immediate and unprovoked in any way.
There may be an accomplice involved. The only description available is an adult male who had a dog with him.
