Firefighters save Milwaukie home
One cat taken to vet with burns, no other injuries
At 8:18 a.m. on Monday morning, Clackamas Fire District No. 1 crews responded to a reported structure fire in the area of 22nd and Park avenues in Milwaukie to find flames from a trailer impinging on the next-door residence.
Firefighters were quickly able to extinguish the fire on the exterior of the structure, saving the home.
There were several calls to 911 on this incident, but the inital call came from the homeowner who reported the trailer in the driveway was on fire. At the time of the fire, there were three people in the nearby house, all of whom were able to escape the structure without injury.
A litter of kittens was reported to have been inside the trailer at the time of the fire, and one cat was taken to Northwest Vet Specialists with burns.
Investigators were still determining the cause of the fire Monday. At the time, damage estimates to the trailer and home were around $10,000.
"The early call to 911 allowed Clackamas firefighters to quickly arrive onscene and extinguish the fire before it could spread to the interior of the structure," said Brandon Paxton, spokesman for the fire district.
