Forums appeal to Arch Bridge enthusiasts

To celebrate the restoration of the 1922 McCullough Arch Bridge linking Oregon City and West Linn, three bridge-themed presentations will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Museum of the Oregon Territory.

She will be followed at 1 p.m. by ODOT Senior Historian Robert W. Hadlow, Ph.D., who will discuss the reconstruction of McCullough’s Arch Bridge.

Hadlow is author of “Elegant Arches, Soaring Spans,” and has listed a dozen of McCullough’s bridges in the National Register of Historic Places. Co-Presenting is bridge expert Chris Leedham, P.E., structural design engineer for ODOT, who administers Oregon’s Historic Covered Bridge Program.

At 3 p.m., Matt Love, Oregon City-born winner of the 2009 Oregon Holbrook Literary Legacy Award, presents “Legends of the Arch Bridge.”

Events are sponsored by Lewis & Clark Bank, in conjunction with the Willamette Falls Heritage Coalition’s first Willamette Falls Festival. Free museum admission included.
