Early ballot returns Nov. 6 indicate that Oregon City voters finally approved four annexations of small properties into city limits. Four measures to bring a total of more than 13 acres into the city were passing by wide 60-percent margins Tuesday night.

Oregon City residents voted against annexations near the intersection Holcomb Boulevard and Redland Road three times. In the latest and smallest attempt in May, a 6.5-acre property was part of the Park Place Concept Plan area, which was brought into the region’s Urban Growth Boundary in 2002 to accommodate growth.

In past elections, developer Kent Ziegler’s proposals to bring the property into the city failed on the ballot in 2008, when a 175-acre expansion was proposed, and again in 2010, when annexation of 54 acres was proposed.

Property owner Kenneth Hochhalter asked to bring his 11.93 acres of industrial land located east of Beavercreek Road into Oregon City. No development of the property is currently proposed, and future development would require a land-use application through the city.

Debbie and Eugene Pardella requested the city bring in their 0.69 acres on the south side of Holcomb Boulevard because of a failing septic system. Peter and Elizabeth Jacobsen made the same request of their 0.3 acres adjacent to Leroy Lane and south of Holcomb Boulevard.

Gary Bowles also successfully brought in his 0.89-acre parcel zoned low-density residential at 14362 S. Maplelane Road.
