North Clackamas School Board seeks applicants for open seat

The North Clackamas School Board is seeking people to fill a position vacated by Cheryl Myers, who will leave the board on Jan. 18.

North Clackamas is Oregon’s fifth-largest school district, serving 17,300 students from Oak Grove and Milwaukie to Happy Valley and Clackamas. Myers has served on the seven-member School Board since 2005 (“Cheryl Myers resigns from North Clackamas School Board,” Dec. 12).

Those interested in the volunteer position are invited to apply. Applications will be available at nclack.k12.or.us on Jan. 7, with applications accepted through Jan. 18. The School Board will interview applicants, and they will likely appoint the new member on Feb. 7.

The appointee will serve until June 30. The next School Board election is in May, and the appointee may choose to run for a full four-year term.

Applicants must be qualified Oregon voters age 18 or older who have lived in the North Clackamas School District for at least a year. Employees of district schools and charter schools are not eligible to apply.

Those who wish to apply can send a letter of interest and/or a resume to Board Secretary Denice Bailey, 4444 S.E. Lake Road, Milwaukie 97222.
