by: COURTESY: OREGON STATE POLICE - A woman trapped in a Honda Civic on Tuesday evening tells emergency responders the male driver left the scene toward a nearby creek, so police searched the area with the help of a canine unit.A Tuesday evening crash along Highway 224 near Barton resulted in Oregon State Police citing an Oregon City man on three charges after he allegedly left behind an injured female passenger at the crash scene.

With the help of a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit, the man was found two hours later, and both he and the female passenger were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

On Jan. 8 at approximately 5:50 p.m., a 2007 Honda Civic with two occupants was involved in a collision with a PGE pole along Highway 224 near milepost 14, west of Bakers Ferry Road. OSP, CCSO and Boring Fire District responded to the crash and found a female trapped in the car. She told emergency responders the male driver left the scene toward a nearby creek, so police searched the area with the help of the K-9.

About two hours later, the man was found west of the crash scene along Highway 224 near Southeast 232nd Avenue. Erik B. Sharp, 36, from Oregon City, was taken by ambulance to Mt. Hood Medical Center. Subsequent investigation led OSP to cite Sharp to appear in Clackamas County Circuit Court for DUII, reckless driving and hit-and-run.

The passenger, Jodie A. Clark, 38, from Arizona, was extricated from the car by Boring Fire Department and and taken by AMR ambulance to Mt. Hood Medical Center. She was treated and released.

PGE personnel responded to the scene to repair the damaged pole.

OSP Trooper Jose Cortez was the lead investigator.
