Code Red alert locates missing girl


by: PHOTO COURTESY: MILWAUKIE POLICE - Jenessa Lynn HanniganA missing 8-year-old girl was quickly located and determined to be safe after Milwaukie Police used a Code-Red emergency notification system on Thursday.

On Jan. 24 at about 3:30 p.m. Kelly Hannigan discovered her daughter Jenessa Lynn Hannigan was missing from their home in the 4000 block of Southeast Llewellyn Street in Milwaukie. The back door was standing open, and the 8-year-old was gone.

Police began a door-to-door search looking for the missing child. Clackamas County Search and Rescue, along with a police canine was called to assist. A Code-Red emergency message was sent to Milwaukie area residents and businesses.

Within minutes of the Code-Red activation, police were contacted by the Taco Bell manager in the Milwaukie Market Place shopping mall at Oak Street and Highway 224, who recognized the child based on the description provided on the Code-Red recording.

Police found the child was OK, and she was quickly reunited with her mother.
