When you’re a student, having the right tools for learning makes a big difference. But the North Clackamas School District recognizes that not every family can afford a binder, a calculator or a set of watercolors.

Last week, Office Max decided to help struggling families, delivering $1,000 worth of school supplies to the Family Support Program at Wichita Center, 6031 S.E. King Road. This hub for social services in the district provides clothing, school supplies, hygiene items, and connections to programs such as Women, Infants and Children food-stamp program and Head Start.

Program leader Kristin Kinnie said that the Office Max donation is deeply appreciated, especially given the increasing numbers of struggling families. During the back to school rush last fall, more than 900 families were helped by the program, including more than 350 homeless students.
