Milwaukie chef 'hottest' in nation

by: PHOTO COURTESY: EATER - French-born Pascal Sauton poses with a can of Pabst, a cigarette behind his ear and a provocative outfit to bring the 'Hottest Chef' title to Milwaukie.Pascal Sauton, chef-owner of Milwaukie Kitchen & Wine, last week won a national title in Eater’s annual “Hottest Chef in America” competition.

After getting more than 3,500 votes in the poll to beat out other regional winners, Sauton told the blog, “It’s totally overwhelming that I got that response ... it’s been such a fun ride.”

His business combines a wine shop, deli, specialty grocery, caterer, cooking school and restaurant in one space, at 10610 S.E. Main St., that opened a little more than a year ago (“Grocery store returning to downtown Milwaukie,” Oct. 5, 2011). With Valentine’s Day and starting dinner service a few months ago, according to Sauton, he’s been “absolutely hammered” with business.

He added, “The community has really responded well and given us a lot of support.”
