Milwaukie offers 'drive through' drug drop-off

Milwaukie’s fourth-annual Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day and Document Shred Event takes places on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 3200 S.E. Harrison St.

Milwaukie police cadets will be available in the parking lot of the police department. The “drive-through” service is available to anyone wanting to properly dispose of unneeded or expired prescription medications, or to drop off documents for shredding. There is no specified limit on the amount of documents a citizen can bring. However, police reserve the right to limit “excessive quantities.”

The free shred day and prescription drug drop-off event are being offered by the Milwaukie Police Department, Providence Milwaukie Hospital and the Public Safety Advisory Committee as part of a crime-prevention effort to reduce inappropriate access to prescription medications, and to minimize identity theft, fraud and related crimes.
