Cities across the North Clackamas region are planning coordinated recycling events on Saturday, April 27, to prevent waste and prescription overdoses.

Oregon City

The Oregon City Police Department-sponsored “Shred-it & Cell Phone Recycling Spring 2013 Event” runs from 9 a.m. to noon in the department’s parking lot, 320 Warner Milne Road.

Two containers per person will be accepted at no charge. Maximum container size is 10-by-12-by-15-inch corrugated storage box. There is a $1 charge for each additional container.

All money collected, including donations, will go to the department’s Crime Prevention funds (K-9 and Summer Camp). The phones will be used to assist those in need, such as victims of abuse and senior citizens. For more information, call 503-496-1684.

Happy Valley

Happy Valley’s RX Drug Turn-In Day takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot, 16000 S.E. Misty Drive, Happy Valley.


Join the Gladstone Youth Coalition, and the Gladstone police and fire departments as they host “Take it to the Streets” Prescription Drug Return Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Police Department, 535 Portland Ave, to collect all unwanted prescriptions medicines, including pet medications.

Acceptable items include: prescriptions, samples, over-the-counter medicines and vitamins. Items not accepted will include needles syringes, thermometers, bloody or infections waste, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, inhalers.

In addition, you may also visit the Gladstone Fire Department where you can enjoy a root beer float and get information about keeping Gladstone safe.
