She was born on Sept. 21, 1935, in Prairie View, Texas, and passed away in Milwaukie.
She is survived by: her children, Edward, Debra and Archibald Asberry; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Raymond S. Gitt Jr.
Nov. 25, 1942 – May 31, 2013
Raymond S. Gitt Jr. passed away unexpectedly in Tualatin on May 31.
He is survived by: his wife of 43 years, Sharon; and sisters, Marie Philips and Patty Byers.
A celebration of life memorial was held on Sunday, June 9, at the Oregon City Christian Church, 1179 South End Road. In lieu of flowers, make contributions in his memory to the Oregon City Christian Church.

Elisabeth Ruth Hawes
Aug. 31, 1959 – June 25, 2012
Elisabeth Ruth Hawes passed away after a very short battle with cancer on June 25, 2012; she was 52 years old.
Lis, as her family called her, lived in the Portland area for the last 30-plus years.
She loved to fish, go camping and anything that had to do with the outdoors. She had several favorite spots that she would pass the time in hopes of catching the big one. She loved to tinker on small-engine repair, taking them apart and putting them back together.
She is survived by: her mom, Virginia Hawes; brothers, Doug, Roger and Mark Hawes; and sisters, Eva and Lisa Hawes.
She will forever be missed, but will always live in our hearts.
Greg MillarMarch 17, 1947 – May 29, 2013
Life-long Oregon City resident Greg Millar passed away on May 29.
A private family gathering was held to celebrate his life.
Mr. Millar is survived by: his loving wife, Bonnie; son, Chris; mother, Virginia; sister, Wendy; brother-in-law, David Wesley; niece, Lindsay; and nephew, Josh.
Donations can be made in his name to the Gus fund at Milner Veterinary Clinic in Oregon City or to the charity of your choice.

Donald Francis Serres, DVM
April 21, 1934 – June 3, 2013
Dr. Donald (Don) F. Serres died on June 3.
He was born April 21, 1934, in Oregon City to Ted and Nellie Serres.
He graduated from McLoughlin Grade School in 1948, Oregon City High School in 1952, Oregon State University in 1956 and Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1960.
Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a captain.
In 1962 he entered private veterinary practice with the Oregon City Veterinary clinic, specializing in large animal care. In 1963 was awarded a humanitarian award for the rescue of a horse stranded on a ledge above the flooded Clackamas River. Later he practiced in Canby and Roseburg.
Mr. Serres is survived by: his two brothers, Jim (Corene) and David (Lorraine); four nieces, Janet Serres, Janine (Glenn) Jacobs, Susie (Paul) Dedyo and Julie (Trent) Morrell; three nephews, David (Anita) Serres, Michael (Donna) Serres and Ted (Elaina) Serres. He was preceded in death by nephew, Chuck Serres.
A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to St. John the Apostle School.

Wilma Esther Van Liew
Aug. 3, 1916 – May 29, 2013
Wilma Esther Van Liew died on May 29 at age 96.
She was a member of Sweet Adelines for many years, and also a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church for 50 years.
She is survived by: daughter, Mary Ellen Partlow; sister, Bertha Cleys; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Van Liew and daughter, Wilma Rebischke.
Services were held on June 4 at the Woodland Park Baptist Church, where donations in her name may be made in lieu of flowers.
