As a result of a Sunday evening traffic crash in Redland, Life Flight had to take a 5-year-old to the hospital and police arrested a 72-year-old man from Oregon City for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Norman Dallas was also arrested on charges of assault, criminal mischief, recklessly endangering and reckless driving of his Dodge pickup truck.
The boy with reported severe facial injuries is expected to survive. An aunt with her two children, who was driving an Oldsmobile sedan, received a broken leg. The other child in her car survived with minor injuries.
Fischers Mill Road was once again open for travel on Monday morning after the June 16 crash at about 8:15 p.m., when Clackamas County deputies responded to the area near South Princess Court. Four people had to be transported to area hospitals, after being extricated from their vehicles by Clackamas Fire District No. 1 personnel.
Initial reports indicated that a pickup truck containing only Norman Dallas was headed westbound when it lost control and hit the Oldsmobile headed eastbound. The Clackamas County Crash Reconstruction and Forensic Team was called to investigate the crash, due to the serious injuries and possibility of alcohol involvement.
