District to sell school, TriMet properties

North Clackamas School District staff have been busy over the summer preparing property transactions.

Last month the School Board approved a staff recommendation to grant TriMet and the city of Milwaukie light-rail-construction-related easements next to the high school. Board members discussed whether the approximately $26,000 the district will receive should be used toward security cameras.

District staffers are also planning to sell the 7-acre Altamont property, 8901 S.E. Bristol Park Drive, Happy Valley. At its Thursday meeting, the School Board will discuss a resolution to declare the commercially zoned acreage surplus and authorize staff to sell the district property that had been previously appraised at $2.1 million.

“The ideal lot size for an elementary school is closer to 10 acres,” said Ron Stewart, district operations manager. “In addition, the Altamont site is not located in an area with a projected need for a future elementary school.”
