'People' sculptures going up next to Milwaukie City Hall

The City Hall Sculpture Garden is filling with people this September — people-themed sculptures, that is.

by: PHOTO COURTESY: ARTMOB - 'Dual,' by Francisco Salgado, is a large, red figure consisting of two parts - male and female - creating one form. The Milwaukie Arts Committee (artMOB) selected the theme of “People” to bring a more human element to the garden. “Dual,” by Francisco Salgado, is a large, red figure consisting of two parts — male and female — creating one form.

“Let’s Dance” will be fabricated by Jen Ellsworth for the garden. Made from recycled tanks, the curves of the tanks suggest the motion of a dancing figure.

“Atomica Familia,” also by Salgado, is inspired by the notion that the nucleus of society is the family.

The Sculpture Garden has six pedestals for displaying a rotating collection — half are new every year. All the pieces are on loan and for sale.
