Community honors memory of Jake Arntson with new baseball field


Kids at Oregon Trail Elementary gathered on Thursday evening for the Sept. 19 ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Jake Arntson Memorial Baseball Field.

by: PHOTO BY: CINDY FREE-FETTY - After many hours of hard work and the dedication of volunteers, Oregon Trail Elementary students and the community come out celebrate the ribbon-cutting event of their new Field of Dreams on Thursday, Sept. 19. This field honors the life of first-grader Jake Arntson, who died on Dec. 31, 2012, in a tragic car accident.

His parents Tracy and John Arntson, who is a teacher and baseball coach at Clackamas High School, and many others in the community, helped to make this project a success. Members of the local commuity joined parents and teachers for a work party to get the field ready.
