Officials help with insurance rollout

State Rep. Shemia Fagan (D-Mid Multnomah/North Clackamas counties) will be joined by Rep. Jeff Reardon (D-East Portland/Happy Valley) and Sen. Chuck Thomsen (R-Hood River) in hosting a representative from Cover Oregon for a free training event Oct. 30.

Business owners are encouraged to bring their laptops to the Monarch Hotel and Conference Center, 12566 S.E. 93rd Ave., Clackamas, where they will receive hands-on guidance on how to enroll in the new health care exchange from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

“Cover Oregon comes up all the time when I’m talking to small business owners in my district,” Fagan said. “They are sick of the political games surrounding it and just want to know how it works and if it will help them provide insurance to their employees.”

While targeted toward small business owners, members of the public are welcome to attend free of charge and ask questions. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

“While Cover Oregon makes purchasing health insurance easier, my constituents still seek advice in navigating the site and selecting the best plan for their employees,” Reardon said. “Having real-time assistance will be very beneficial to local business owners.”
