A Safe Place, Clackamas County and the Clackamas Federal Credit Union are conducting a donation drive to help survivors of domestic violence. Items can be donated through Nov. 30 at the stand-alone Clackamas Federal Credit Union branches in Canby, Milwaukie, Oregon City and Sandy.

The community is asked to donate diapers, wipes, school supplies, new backpacks, gift cards, new pajamas, new fleece pants/coats, new socks/undergarments and used cell phones with chargers, which can be used without a SIM card to make 911 calls in an emergency.

When an abuse survivor suddenly leaves their home, they do not always have the time to pack the items that are most necessary. Community partners at the center are hoping to have items available to help survivors with such items.

A Safe Place Family Justice Center for Clackamas County will open this month in Oregon City at 256 Warner Milne Road. Clackamas County will partner with law enforcement and local service providers to offer a safe location where law enforcement officials, legal service providers, victim advocates and providers can work together to help families escape and recover from domestic, sexual and vulnerable adult abuse.

At A Safe Place, survivors of domestic violence will be able to receive coordinated and holistic care. Family Justice Centers across the country have reduced homicides; increased victim safety; empowered victims; reduced fear and anxiety for victims and their children; and reduced intimidation.
