Wetzler elected to national FFA office

Jason Wetzler, who graduated from Clackamas High School in 2012, has been elected to serve on the 2013-14 National FFA Officer team.

by: FFA - WetzlerWetzler, a sophomore agricultural leadership major at Oklahoma State University, will serve as Western Region vice president for the organization. He is one of six students elected by delegates throughout the United States to represent the organization as National FFA officers. Officers commit to a year of service to the National FFA organization and each travels more than 100,000 national and international miles to interact with business and industry leaders, FFA members and teachers, corporate sponsors, government and education officials, state FFA leaders, the general public and more.

“This year will be a combination of utilizing lessons instilled in me by my family as I grew up and continually growing as an individual to try and serve the FFA and its members to the best of my abilities,” Wetzler said.

Recently honored as one of OSU’s Top Ten Freshmen, Wetzler also was the featured speaker at TEDxOStateU in October, when he talked about how people could change the world as a whole by acting in small, selfless ways.

“For this new national officer team, it will be a year of hard work, long hours, lots of travel, and major advocacy for FFA and agricultural education,” said National FFA President Clay Sapp. “It is a year of profound experiences that will change their lives and the thousands of lives their service will touch.”

The National FFA organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 579,678 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,570 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
