Clackamas County announced last month that Association of Oregon Counties Board of Directors President Earl Fisher appointed County Commissioner Tootie Smith to fill a member-at-large seat.

Smith was elected to the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners in November 2012. Prior to that she was a state representative from 2001 to 2005, when she served on several key committees including Ways and Means and as deputy majority leader.

“I am proud to be asked to serve on the AOC board of directors where I can promote advocacy for Clackamas County and all of Oregon’s counties,” Smith said.

She has owned a local business for 25 years and is a fourth-generation farmer, a former journalist and lobbyist, and has served as a chief financial officer for several corporations.
