Man arrested after crashing into trees

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO: OSP - Chael Jakob Lynch, 22, from Oregon City, was injured after crashing his Toyota Camry into trees lining the rest area entrance ramp next to the southbound lanes of Interstate 5.An Oregon City man was cited by Oregon State Police after he was found New Year's Day morning seriously injured in an Interstate 5 rest area bathroom south of Wilsonville following a single-vehicle crash.

On Jan. 1 at 7:18 a.m., an OSP sergeant responded to the southbound Interstate 5 French Prairie Rest Area near milepost 282 following several reports of a suspicious person with injuries. During a check of the rest area, the person was found inside the bathroom and medical personnel were called.

Chael Jakob Lynch, 22, from Oregon City, was injured a couple hours earlier from crashing his Toyota Camry into trees lining the rest area entrance ramp next to the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, according to police. The car sliced a large tree in half and was partially concealed by downed tree debris and vegetation.

Lynch was transported to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital for treatment of serious, nonlife-threatening injuries.
