CCSO: Woman escapes from McLoughlin Blvd. kidnapper's van
The search for a 49-year-old convicted felon suspected of attempting to kidnap a tanning salon employee in Milwaukie continues.
U.S. Marshals have joined the manhunt for Kelly Swoboda, who was identified as a suspect after his fingerprints were found at the Palm Beach Tanning Salon in the 17000 block of McLoughlin Boulevard, the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office reported Wednesday.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, told Clackamas County deputies she was working alone at the salon Monday night when the suspect came in, assaulted her and then dragged her outside and forced her into a purple-colored minivan.
As her assailant drove, she jumped from the moving van, sustaining more injuries. Neighbors in the area where she jumped called 911 because they thought a hit-and-run had taken place.
She is recovering at a Portland hospital.
Surveillance photos of the suspect have been released. Swoboda was convicted of armed bank robbery in 1995 and 2006. He also has a current warrant for his arrest for a Clackamas County DUII in November 2013.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the sheriffs office at 503-723-4949. Anyone who sees Swoboda should call 911.
