The month of March is the Milwaukie Center’s annual March for Meals fundraising campaign, and volunteers are in their final push to reach their goal of $35,000.

Meals on Wheels, a program where volunteers deliver food to older adults and people with disabilities, provides more than 65,000 meals annually.

More than 100 volunteer drivers deliver meals to the most vulnerable population in North Clackamas County — the fragile, homebound and elderly.

The meals, prepared five days a week at the Milwaukie Center, are available seven days a week for nearly 200 residents who rely on daily service).

Local businesses from throughout the area again have signed on to help the campaign. Bob’s Red Mill is matching all donations made at its Milwaukie store. The Happy Valley New Seasons Market is taking donations at the register, and the McLoughlin Boulevard branch of Clackamas Federal Credit Union is taking donations.

Each dollar raised during this campaign supports the daily operations of the Milwaukie Center’s Meals on Wheels program. Each meal costs $6 to produce, $3 of which is reimbursed through federal funds.
