Dog viewing to close for shelter fix

People will not be able to visit with adoptable dogs when Clackamas County's dog shelter closes June 16-21 for repair and refinishing of the floors.

Clackamas County Dog Services administrative offices, 13141 S.E. Highway 212, Clackamas, will be open as usual, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, for purchasing dog licenses, reclaiming lost dogs and other regular business. People also will be able to continue to view adoptable dogs online at clackamas.us/k9man/adoptpet.jsp.

Dog Services Manager Diana Hallmark said that shelter repairs are needed in order to provide a safer floor surface for staff and dogs in the shelter. Hallmark also is looking forward to the installation of two larger dog runs for bigger dogs and/or dogs who benefit by being housed together.

CCDS also provides sick, injured and emergency dog rescue; pet protective custody; bite investigations; quarantine of dogs that have bitten and are not rabies vaccinated; inspection of dog kennels; obedience training classes; pet first-aid classes; and spay/neuter services.

More information about CCDS is at clackamas.us/dogs, facebook.com/ClackamasCountyDogServices, or by calling 503-655-8628.
