Delta Xi chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International held a garage sale June 6-8 at the home of Delta Xi members Carol Cookson and Laurie Stapleton in Milwaukie.

All proceeds were donated to the Honor Flight program for veterans to visit the World War II monument in Washington D.C., next spring. A total of $1,477 was raised, which will sponsor four veterans who reside in Clackamas, Marion, Polk, Tillamook or Yamhill counties.

The Curves Club that Cookson attends ran an advertisement on its big screen before the sale and posted the results after the sale.

One of the member’s saw the advertisement about the sale results and was choked up because her husband had been in WWII and was an Honor Flight recipient. She said her husband never talked about the war until he went on that trip and for the first time in his life he felt honored.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha International donates hours and money to various organizations including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Easter Seals. Locally, Delta Xi supports the Clark Center, the HIV Day Center, the Independent Living Resource Center, Hope for Heroes, Children’s Book Bank, and Dress for Success.
