Team exceeds goal by raising $20,000 for family justice, rescue council

In just a few short months, Clackamas Federal Credit Union and its generous members surpassed a goal of $15,000, reaching a total of $20,000 for donations to two local nonprofits that strive to safeguard the lives of Clackamas County residents.

From mid-February through June, approximately $15 has been added toward the goal for every new loan for a total of $16,080 in donations. This amount was increased to $20,000 through member donations, a T-shirt fundraiser, an online photo contest, and an additional donation provided by the credit union.

The two local nonprofits benefiting from this campaign, Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council and A Safe Place Family Justice Center, are extraordinary organizations and integral members of the Clackamas community.

Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council provides training opportunities for volunteers and coordinates search and rescue programs in the region. Their funds will be used to purchase a mobile shelter for volunteers and the purchase and installation of radio repeaters in remote locations, eliminating the need to send search teams to establish temporary repeater stations.

A Safe Place Family Justice Center provides a safe location where several community partners work together under one roof supporting victims of domestic and sexual violence and their needs across a continuum of care. The partners at A Safe Place are committed to working together to end domestic and sexual violence in Clackamas County.

“Our board of directors is committed to serving the people of Clackamas County,” said Mary Greco, CEO of Clackamas Federal Credit Union. “We can’t say enough good things about the work A Safe Place Family Justice Center and Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council are doing for our community. We are thrilled that this donation will help both groups in their efforts to save lives.”

This success will be celebrated on July 19, when the credit union will present two $10,000 checks and give members the opportunity to speak with representatives from both nonprofits.
