The Rotary Club of Oregon City has been honored with a Presidential Citation and a Governor’s Membership Award by Rotary’s district governor and international presidents.

The awards, presented at the District 5100 Conference in Pendleton, recognize the top mid-sized club in the district for membership growth and retention.

The Rotary Club of Oregon City was especially recognized for its involvement in the daylong Peace Conference in March and for organizing an electronics recycling event last fall, as well as its participation in an international service project related to economic development in Guatemala.

“Our club has truly shown its engagement in the Rotary theme of Light Up Rotary,” said Marcia Wimmer, District 5100 assistant governor, who presented the award to club President Graham Peterson during the weekly meeting May 20.

“Our club has grown in its size and in its community service programs,” Peterson said. “Clearly our members enjoy being part of the organization and enjoy the opportunities to give back to our community. We welcome others who would like to join in these projects and fellowship.”

To learn more, the club meets Wednesday at noon at the Museum of the Oregon Territory, 211 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City.
