by: JAIME VALDEZ - Jeff BairJeff Bair, who resigned as head boys basketball coach at Clackamas High School last spring, has signed on as head girls basketball coach at Lake Oswego High School.

“I have two daughters who were starting to lose interest in basketball and I live four miles away from Lake Oswego High School,” Bair told the Lake Oswego Review. “It was just time for a change.”

Bair, who was at Clackamas for seven seasons, has daughters who attend the fourth and seventh grade.

Lake Oswego’s girls basketball program graduated a large senior class last year and the team is left without much experience. There are only two seniors, one junior and three sophomores in the entire program, which includes nearly 30 freshmen.

The coaches were joking that we only have three girls with drivers licenses in the program,” Bair said. “It’s probably the youngest roster in the state.”

Bair’s Clackamas High boys teams had their share of success. They advanced to postseason play all seven seasons and had only one losing season.

His Clackamas High teams won 61 percent of their games, going 102-65 over seven seasons. They advanced to the second round of the big-school state playoffs twice, losing close games to Newberg in 2009, and to Central Catholic in 2011.

Bair is a 1987 graduate of Clackamas High School, where he played for Cavalier basketball teams coached by his father, Jim Bair.
