Trevor Ferguson of Oregon City kicked off the 2013 indoor track season in top form on Saturday.

Competing for the University of Oregon at the Boise State Blue and Orange Opener, the redshirt sophomore won the long jump with an effort of 23-4. Ferguson also placed fourth in the 60-meter high hurdles, with an 8.21 clocking.

Ferguson’s mark in the long jump was within five inches of his personal record for the event in indoor competition. He won the event easily, finishing well ahead of the runner-up, Oregon redshirt freshman Blake Kemp (21-9-1/2).

Ferguson was among 12 athletes from the University of Oregon who won events at Saturday’s meet.
