La Salle, Clackamas excel in fall sports
La Salle Prep and Clackamas High School athletes excelled both in the classroom and on the athletic field last fall, and their accomplishments were acknowledged in the Oregonian Cup fall standings.
La Salle finished first among all 4A schools, and Clackamas finished as the top public school in Class 6A, trailing only Jesuit, Central Catholic and St. Marys Academy.
The Oregonian Cup honors Oregon high schools for overall competitiveness, excellence and sportsmanship in academics, activities and athletics.
La Salle last fall won a state championship in girls cross country, finished state runner-up in boys soccer, placed third in the state in boys cross country, and made the quarterfinals in football and in girls soccer.
La Salles team GPAs for the fall were: girls cross country 3.56, girls soccer 3.50, boys cross country 3.48, volleyball 3.39, football 3.33 and boys soccer 3.04.
Clackamas last fall finished state runner-up in girls soccer, placed third in volleyball and advanced to the semifinals in boys soccer
Clackamas team GPAs for the fall were: girls cross country 3.66, girls soccer 2.58, boys cross country 3.58, volleyball 3.48 and boys soccer 3.25.
