In an effort to better coordinate the youth program with the high school program, and increase turnout, Rex Putnam has combined its high school program and its youth program into one organization, according to Putnam High School coach Brad Lewman.

As part of the reorganization and a drive to increase numbers in youth football, Lewman says, participation in youth football will be free to Putnam area youngsters in grades 3-8, beginning next fall. Sign-ups are in April.

Lewman says that more than enough money has been raised to fund youth football, through corporate sponsorships and fundraising. Putnam football is still looking for volunteers to coach youth football. For additional information, contact Shane Meyers at 503-550-2944.
