Skipper Pac-12 Athlete of Week
After sitting out last year with a back injury, 2011 Oregon City High School graduate Greg Skipper is making waves in track and field at the University of Oregon.
Skipper won the hammer throw with an effort of 210-10 at the recent Oregon Preview. It was a six-foot personal record for Skipper and the throw ranked Skipper third in the nation for the 2013 season.
Skipper and Oregon sprinter DeAnthony Thomas garnered Pac-12 Athlete of the Week honors for their efforts at the Preview meet.
Thomas won three events at the Oregon Preview, anchoring the 4x100-meter relay to a meet-record time of 40.35, running a personal best of 10.31 in the 100 meters, and winning the 200 in 21.17.
Oregon City graduate Trevor Ferguson also performed well at the Oregon Preview, winning the long jump (22-9-3/4), and running on an Oregon relay team that placed fourth, with a 42.46 clocking.
