Roberts garners all-star honors
Rachel Roberts, a starting infielder as a freshman at Pacific University, has been named to the Northwest Conference softball second team of all-stars.
Starting both at second base and shortstop, the 2012 Oregon City High School graduate had a .331 batting average on the 2013 season. Batting in the No. 2 hole in the Boxer lineup, Roberts led the team and tied for eighth in the conference in runs scored (35) and she ranked fifth in the conference with 20 stolen bases.
Rachel is a middle infielder who has an outstanding knowledge of the game and instincts for the game, said Pacific coach Tim Hill. Her growth throughout the season was a major factor in her and the teams much improved play in the second half of the year.
The Boxers finished with an overall record of 21-19 and tied for third place in the Northwest Conference. They were picked to finish sixth.
