Clackamas High School honored 23 senior athletes, representing 12 sports, during May 21 letter of intent scholarship ceremonies at the school.
Baseball and soccer had the most players announcing commitments to accept scholarships to compete in sports. In baseball, Austin Kelly committed to the University of Portland, Jarrod Switzer committed to Linfield, Randy Le committed as a manager at Oregon State University, and Jake Iverson was undecided, but had narrowed it down to three schools Shoreline Junior College in Seattle, Oxnard Junior College in California, or UNLV in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In girls soccer, Sam Moultrie announced a commitment to Oregon State; Summer Mohr, to Linfield; and Claudia Flores and Tori Roberts, both to Clackamas Community College.
Volleyball had three athletes announce commitments: Hannah Stultz (Murray State University), Shelby Vasconcellos-Mattocks (Texas State University) and Kiana Miller (Mt. Hood Community College).
Among others announcing commitments were: Jon Kenion (Southern Oregon) and Erick Douglas III (Linfield) in football; Deeshyra Thomas (Weber State) in basketball; Max Jette (Sacramento State) in track and field; Daniel Badaracco (Dominican University) in golf; Vanessa Oakden (Aurora University in Illinois) and Sydney Wilson (Willamette) in softball; Natalie Kestle (Kansas State) in equestrian; Westley Coleman (Corban) and Chico Guerra (Corban) in boys soccer; Nick Strandholm (Clarkson in New York) in boys lacrosse; and Cydney Bartlett had narrowed it down to Ohio State or Ursuline of Ohio in girls lacrosse.
Several signees have 4.0 or near 4.0 GPAs at Clackamas: Strandholm (4.0), Jette (3.96), Vasconcellos-Mattocks (3.96), Wilson (3.90) and Kestle (3.84). Eleven of the 23 signees have GPAs above 3.5.
