Skipper fourth in the nation
Greg Skipper of Oregon City made some noise at the 2013 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Oregon June 5-8.
Skipper, a redshirt freshman for the Ducks, placed fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 219-11, within eight feet of the winning mark 227-3 by Virginia Tech freshman Tomas Kruzliak.
It was the highest finish by an Oregon athlete in the mens hammer throw since 1990, when Scott McGee won the NCAA title.
Skipper, who was sidelined with a back injury in 2012, his first season as a Duck, also placed second at the 2013 Pac 12 Championships, with a lifetime-best mark of 222-6.
