Poppen excels at Linfield
Charlie Poppen, a 2012 graduate of Oregon City High School, has been named to the Northwest Conference football first all-star team for the second year in a row.
Poppen, who plays wide receiver for Linfield, had 40 receptions for 648 yards and six touchdowns through play last weekend.
The Wildcats on Saturday defeated Hampden-Sydney 31-21 in a second-round game of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Poppen had five catches for 63 yards to lead all Linfield receivers in that game.
Poppen had five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown in a Nov. 23 playoff game with Pacific Lutheran, a 43-21 victory for Linfield.
Ranked second in the country, the Wildcats (11-0) will meet Wisconsin-Whitewater (12-0) on the road Saturday, Dec. 7, in the NCAA Division III quarterfinals.
