Local hoopsters get all-state recognition
Oregon City, Clackamas, Milwaukie, Putnam, La Salle and Gladstone all had athletes recognized in the 2014 Oregon high school basketball all-star balloting.
Oregon City senior Jessica Gertz was one of five athletes named to the Class 6A girls first team of all-stars, and Oregon City girls coach Kurt Guelsdorf was honored by his peers as the 6A girls basketball Coach of the Year. The Pioneers this year won their first state title since 2009, and their nineteenth Three Rivers League title in the past twenty seasons.
Oregon City sophomore Cierra Walker was selected to the 6A girls second all-star team; Clackamas senior Erica Pagano received honorable mention in the all-state balloting.
Clackamas senior Keaton Bankofier got the nod to the Class 6A boys second all-star team.
In Class 5A girls basketball, Putnam senior Mariah Oliver and Milwaukie sophomore Merrily Jones received honorable mention in the all-state balloting.
In Class 4A, La Salle juniors Keeston Smith and Reece Wible were named to the boys second team, and Gladstone junior Handsome Smith received honorable mention.
La Salle senior Sterling Swift and La Salle freshman Aleah Goodman received honorable mention in the Class 4A girls all-state balloting.
