Clackamas High graduate Shelby Vasconcellos-Mattocks received multiple honors at recent Texas State University awards ceremonies.
The Bobcat freshman was named Texas State volleyball Newcomer of the Year, as she helped the Bobcats win the Sun Belt Conference and advance to the 2013 NCAA Championship Volleyball Tournament. During her rookie season, Vasconcellos-Mattocks had 286 kills, 305 digs, 31 service aces, 48 blocks and 39 assists, and she was twice named Sun Belt Freshman of the Week.
A biochemistry major, Vasconcellos-Mattocks was also recently awarded the Texas State Cream of the Crop award, for maintaining a 4.0 GPA during her first two semesters. She was one of 25 Bobcat student-athletes to receive the honor, for maintaining a 4.0 GPA while competing in a sport during the fall or winter semester.
