Legion auxiliary sets garage sale

The Estacada American Legion Auxiliary will hold a garage sale at the Odd Fellows Hall in Estacada. The sale will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 28.

“Come help us celebrate the Estacada Summer Celebration,” says Auxiliary President Sharon Jamieson.

Estacada fire recruits graduate

Five Estacada recruit firefighters graduated July 14 from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Fire Academy in Salem, according to Fire Chief Bob Morrisey.

Graduates included Levi Jardine, Corey Marlowe, Christopher Newton, Scott Skinner and Henry Sullivan.

All of the recruits started work in the academy March 3, spending eight weekends (128 hours) in training.

The recruits will continue with additional training at Estacada, Morrisey said, while they finish their first year of probation.

Poker run aids local fire unit

The American Legion Motorcycle Poker Run will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Latus Motors in Gladstone.

This event is a fundraiser for the American Legion and the Estacada Rural Fire District’s Rescue Memorial Fund.

Registration is at 9 a.m., with the last bike out by 10:30 a.m. The final stop will be the Viewpoint Restaurant on Springwater Road in Estacada.
