Fire district honors firefighters, volunteers


Several staff members and volunteers were honored during the Estacada Rural Fire Protection District’s 2012 Awards Banquet last Saturday night.

The event was held at the Abernathy Center in Oregon City on March 30.

Length of service awards were presented to firefighters who reached the 5, 10, 20, 25 and even 30 year mark.

Richard Anderson, Brandon Crowe, Jeff Holman, Lisa Homan, Jeremy Townsend and Helen Turner received the five-year awards. Joe Schwab was honored for his decade of service, Jeff Aldridge was awarded for 20 years of service, David Long’s 25 years were recognized, and Jeff Deckert received the 30-year award.

Levi Jardine was honored as recruit of the year. He put in 221 hours of training, responded to 127 alarms and was described as enthusiastic, loyal and committed.

Jason Crowe was named employee of the year. He responded to 336 alarms, put in 142 hours of training and was recognized for being reliable and having impeccable integrity.

Volunteer of the year went to Mike Platz. He responded to 117 alarms and put in 128 hours of training. He was singled out for being enthusiastic, detail oriented and technical.
