Legion honors former Estacada resident

by: JAMES BELTRAMO, POST 74 HISTORIAN - American Legion District 7 Commander Terry Brown stands with honorees Merle and Dorothy Marshall along with the Marshalls daughter Judy, and Post 74 Commander Douglas Jamieson.Carl Douglas Post 74 member and former Estacada resident Merle Marshall was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for 70 years of continuous service by the American Legion National Commander James E. Koutz.

Marshall began his service when he enlisted U.S. Army Air Corps in the 801 Engineering Aviation Battalion in 1943. He served in the South Pacific until 1946.

Marshall’s wife, Dorothy, was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for 62 years of continuous service by the American Legion Auxiliary.

The Marshalls live in Dufur, near The Dalles.
