by: RICK DUDA - Participants will learn basic kayak skills while enjoying beautiful scenery. Thanks to the popularity of last year’s kayak tour program, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department once again is offering ranger-led kayak tours of Estacada Lake.

The tours are geared toward the novice. Equipment is provided.

“It’s really beautiful,” said Milo McIver State Park office manager Nancy Laughland. She noted that participants will get to learn about area history, see interesting rock structures and wildlife- maybe even a blue heron.

Tours are offered from 9-11 a.m. every Thursday through Labor Day.

Registration is required. Call Reservations Northwest at 1-800-452-5687 to reserve a spot.

Tours cost $15 per person, and a $5 State Parks day-use permit is required to park vehicles. Children must be at least 7 years old.
