Woman dies in motorcycle accident

Jennifer Elaine Ward, 40, of Oregon City died when her motorcycle hit a tree around 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.

Ward had been traveling with her husband westbound on Highway 224 near milepost 11 west of Barton. They had been riding separate motorcycles.

Ward’s husband had been riding ahead. When he couldn’t see her, he turned around and discovered what had happened.

Emergency responders from the Oregon State Police, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Boring Fire District, Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation arrived at the scene.

Unsuccessful attempts were made to revive Ward. She was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a helmet.

Oregon State Police troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.

220 people enjoy movie night

Susie Tracy, director of Drug-free Estacada Families and Youth estimated that 220 showed up to watch “Despicable Me” on Friday, Aug. 23, at the grassy area next to the fire station at Fourth Avenue and Currin Street.

The “Above the Influence” youth coalition hosted the event.

This was the first free, outdoor family movie night in Estacada.

Grace House earns a perfect score

The senior living community Grace House recently received a “deficiency free” designation for 2013 after being evaluated by the State of Oregon.

The designation “deficiency free” is considered a perfect score on the survey, which is conducted by the state to evaluate the service and care provided by licensed assisted living residences.
