Battles remains at the hospital in critical condition.

Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies were called at about 8 a.m. Nov. 24 to the accident on South Springwater Road near Eaden Road in rural Clackamas County. Deputies said the car Battles was driving struck the trailer at high speed. The trailer was being hauled by farm equipment owned by Eby Trees Unlimited.

Deputies said the accident was still under investigation, but it appeared speed and the use of a mobile communication device may have led to the accident.
