Estacada is taking part in the national Small Business Saturday Campaign.

“It's getting people to focus on what is offered locally,” said Phil Lingelbach, Estacada Development Association chairman. “One of the reasons is $1 spent locally is spent again three or four times locally.”

Lingelbach said local shopping helps create a healthy local economy, which attracts tourists, who, in turn, will shop in town, further boosting the economy.

“That's how we're going to get those empty storefronts along Broadway downtown filled,” he said.

Participating businesses will be open and will run specials for the event Saturday, Nov. 30.
