Weather leads to rise in car crashes

Between Dec. 11 and Dec. 25, the Estacada Fire District responded to nine motor vehicle accidents. At least four of those wrecks resulted in injuries.

While none involved fatalities, Estacada Fire Chief Bob Morrisey said some of the crashes were “pretty serious.”

In at least two cases, fire personnel had to cut into vehicles to rescue people from the wreckage.

What's with this bump in crashes?

Morrisey said that weather conditions, such as ice and fog, contributed to most of those wrecks.

“I'd just say I guess to be careful when visibility is low,” Morrisey said.
