Estacada High School closed due to vandalism

What appeared to have started as a senior prank eventually evolved into much more

At 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, Estacada Rural Fire Department learned that a fire alarm was going off at Estacada High School.

Upon arrival, they noticed that there was no fire in sight, but that the school had been extensively vandalized. Clackamas County Sheriffs were then called to the scene to investigate.

According to Sergeant James Rhodes of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the vandalism appeared to have started as a senior prank. It appears things began with tables being moved and other minor changes that would make holding school difficult.

Eventually, however, the vandalism increased as clocks were torn off the wall, papers were thrown everywhere and a fire extinguisher was used.

As a result, school was cancelled today while the Sheriff's office conducts an investigation and teachers and faculty members begin to clean things back up.
