Genowefa Sendek

July 2, 1912-March 13, 2012

Estacada resident Genowefa Sendek died Tuesday, March 13, at Grace House. She was 99.

A memorial mass was held March 22 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

Genowefa Styzcen was born July 2, 1912, in Breszko Nova, Poland, to Jozef and Katarczyna Styzcen. She was raised there and moved to Connecticut in 1956.

She worked for Stanley Tools and retired in 1977 before moving to Estacada in 1998 to be with family.

Genowefa's greatest joy was being with her family and enjoying gardening.

Survivors include her son, Maks Sendek, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Beaver Creek; grandsons, Paul Sendek of Beavercreek and Christopher Sendek and his wife, Monica, of Redland; granddaughter, Jennifer Kraxberger of Canby and her husband, Aaron; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Nicholas Kraxberger, and Madden, Stella and Maksymilian Sendek.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in care of the arrangement.

Calvin Lawrence Martin

March 13, 1926-March 17, 2012

Former Estacada resident Calvin Martin died Saturday, March 17, in Camas, Wash. He was 86.

A celebration of his life was held Friday, March 23, at Estacada Funeral Chapel followed by inurnment with military honors at Willamette National Cemetery.

Calvin Lawrence Martin was born March 13, 1926, in Wheatland, Wyo., to Calvin and Cherry (Bertram) Martin.

They left Wheatland when Martin was a child, and he attended high school in Nampa, Idaho, until joining the Navy, where he served in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines.

Following his honorable discharge, he worked in an auto dealership, including time at Gladstone Lincoln Mercury Dealership.

Calvin married Estell White on Nov. 4, 1952, in Mt. Home, Idaho, where they lived until moving to Estacada in 1986. Estell died April 5, 1986. Calvin married Jane Sims on Oct. 9, 1988. She died June 13, 2006.

Calvin enjoyed riding his golf cart around Estacada and to lunch at the Estacada Community Center, dancing and singing.

Survivors include his daughters, Cherry Stalnaker of Washougal, Wash., and Ina Slama of Estacada; brother, Jack Martin of Pasco, Wash.; sisters, Wilma Joy Fredrickson and Barbara Jewell McGuire, both of Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Marvin Moore

Sept. 22, 1952-March 10, 2012

Former Estacada resident Marvin Dennis Moore died in Corbett on Saturday, March 10. He was 59.

A celebration of his life was held March 17 at Peace Lutheran Church.

Marvin was born Sept. 22, 1952, in Astoria to Guy and Mary Lou Moore. He was raised in Estacada and graduated from Estacada High School.

He started playing piano as a young child and continued throughout his life. Marvin attended Lewis and Clark College and Portland State University, and for most of his working career he was a freelance copy editor.

The most important part of his life was music, and he played organ, piano and harpsichord at virtuoso level.

He enjoyed giving his liberal opinion to Christians and politicians.

Survivors include his brother, Dean Moore of Boulder, Colo.; sister, Janice Moore of Milwaukie; cousin, Peggy of Brighton, Colo.; and many friends.
