It's almost time for the Whitewater Festival


It’s nearly time for the 31st annual Whitewater Festival.

The event takes place Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, in the Carter Bridge Area of the Upper Clackamas River.

Competitions in a variety of whitewater sports such as drift boating, rafting, kayaking, inner-tubing and stand-up paddling will be held.

There will be a barbecue and a performance by Countryside Ride from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17.

If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity, tractor drivers are needed at Big Eddy to haul rafts from the river to the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18.

You can sign up for however many hours you would like to volunteer, and you don’t have to commit to the entire day. The tractor is provided.

Two volunteers are needed for registration 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, and 9 a.m. to noon, Sunday, May 18.
