SCHOOLS

Kindergarten Roundup, Clackamas River Elementary

There will be a parent meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, to meet the teacher and staff, hear about the program, register your child, see the classroom and have questions answered. From 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, bring your child to an open house, see the classroom, tour the building and do an art project with the teacher.

Registration packets are available at the school office, and a birth certificate and immunization record are required. The office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

COMMUNITY CENTER

Dinner and music on the first and third Saturday of every month

The Estacada Community Center is hosting dinner beginning at 5 p.m. for $5, followed by free music and dancing at 6 p.m. Music is provided by Heartland Classic Country. All proceeds benefit the Home Delivered Meals Program.

Lunch features bingo, dominos

Every Tuesday, TOPS, $2 lunch and bingo; every Monday and Thursday, exercise at 9:30 a.m. and Chicken Foot Dominos after lunch; every Wednesday, breakfast at 9 a.m. for $3; every Friday, lunch and bingo for bucks; every Saturday, Weight Watchers at 8 a.m. For information, call the center at 503-630-7454.

'Catholics Returning Home' beginning April 11

St. Aloysius Catholic Church (297 N.W. Broadway) will conduct an ongoing series called 'Catholics Returning Home' on six consecutive Wednesdays starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the St. Aloysius Parish Education Center. These sessions are for non-practicing Catholics who are seeking answers to questions about returning to the Church. There will be informal sharing and an update of the Catholic faith. Fitness Aerobics every Monday and Thursday

Awana at First Baptist Wednesday night

This program celebrates its 27th year at Estacada First Baptist Church. Youths age 3 to those in sixth grade participate in theme nights, games and Bible study. LIBRARY ACTIVITIES

Coupon exchange on the last Tuesday of the month

Come exchange the coupons you don't use for ones you can use, even if you've never couponed before. This group meets from 6-8 p.m., the last Tuesday of each month in the Flora Room of the library, 825 N.W. Wade St. If the weather is questionable, the exchange will be canceled.

Infant, toddler playgroup at library

The playgroup at the Estacada Public Library meets at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday in the Flora Room at the library, 825 N.W. Wade St. Parents with infants and kids ages newborn to 5 are invited to attend. Bring a toy and sippy cup. FOOD AND WELLNESS

Adult volleyball night

The Community School is hosting volleyball for adults as a fun source of exercise at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Estacada Junior High School. The cost is $10 per term. For more information, call Shirley at 503-630-6245.

Community meal served first, third Tuesday

The Mobile Café serves a free community meal on the first and third Tuesday of every month. For more information, call 503-630-2416.

Grace House offering health classes

Grace House will host free health classes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the last Saturday of each month, covering type 2 diabetes, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, cancer and sleep issues. Grace House is at 380 N.W. Sixth Ave.

Healthy Kids program under way

Healthy Kids is Oregon's recently expanded no-cost or low-cost health coverage for Oregon's uninsured children and teens. To find out more, go to oregonhealthykids.gov or call 1-877-314-5678.

Free assistance in filling out applications is available at the Sandy Community Center, 38348 Pioneer Blvd., from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays, and from noon-2 p.m. Saturdays.

Clackamas County Master Gardener meeting, April 9

Marc Boucher-Colbert will speak from 7-8 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the Milwaukie Center, 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive. The topic is 'Getting the respect you deserve from your vegetable garden: making it work for you instead of the other way around.'

PFLAG meeting, April 24

The Clackamas County Chapter of Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) will meet from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Atkinson Memorial Church, 710 Sixth St., Oregon City. AA offers experience, strength and hope

Clackamas Women's Services provides support services and resources for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Clackamas County. If you need help, Rural Advocate April M. NAMI family support group every third Saturday

The National Alliance of Mental Illness chapter in Clackamas County is providing this meeting from 9-10:30 a.m. every third Saturday of the month. The group offers a casual and relaxed approach to sharing the challenges and successes of coping with a mental illness. This drop-in opportunity is completely confidential and it follows a flexible structure without an educational format. The class will not recommend or endorse any medications or therapies. Eagle Creek Grange is hosting an easter egg hunt at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at 24491 S.E. Eagle Creek Road with prizes for all.

Springwater Grange pancake breakfast, April 7

The monthly breakfast features the same menu of eggs cooked to order, sausage, pancakes, hash browns biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee, all for $5. Springwater Grange is at the corner of Wallens and Springwater roads. The breakfast is from 7-11 a.m. Saturday, April 7.

Portland Taiko in Estacada April 13

Estacada Together will bring Portland Taiko to the Estacada Auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday, April 13. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors and $25 for a family. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for general seating. Tickets are available online before the performance at stacadatogether.org.

Flea market/craft sale, April 13-14

Eagle Creek Grange is hosting a flea market and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 13 and 14. The event includes lunch featuring homemade soup, sandwiches, chili dogs, homemade pie, coffee and soda. There are also still tables available. For more information, call 503-668-6028.

Chicken chat and coop tour, April 14

The Wade Creek House is hosting the "Chicken chat and coop tour" beginning at 9 a.m. April 14. There will be presentations on everything to do with backyard birds. This will be a free backyard chicken clinic for the family that wants to see how to do it successfully, and that includes equipment, breeds, as well as the raising and handling of chickens. Reservations are not required.

After the 'Chicken Chat,' The Wade Creek House will furnish maps ($10 per person, $15 per couple) to many examples of backyard and small farm coops as well as great feed stores in the area so you can see what chicks and supplies they have to offer.

Springwater Grange writers' night, April 21

Writers' Night returns to the Springwater Grange at 7 p.m. April 21. This year's event will feature Estacada writer Kathryn Hurd, author of "Images of America: Estacada." The book is a pictorial history of the town of Estacada and the surrounding hamlets. She will focus her talk on the community of Springwater, offering photographs and stories beyond what is included in her book. The event is presented by the Estacada Area Arts Commission.

Wade Creek Park Phase II grand opening, May 19

The city of Estacada will hold a grand opening for Wade Creek Park Phase II from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19. The celebration will include an opening ceremony/ribbon cutting, skateboard exhibition, BMX exhibition, crafts for young children and a picnic lunch. The park will be open for volleyball, horse shoes, skateboarding and spending time together with friends and family. For more information, contact City Hall.
